    AI and Flyfishing

All well and good, but also consider the pics you post. They can be fed to AI and locations identified. If anyone else posted a similar pic and the approx location identified then your honey hole has been outed.

WA High Country - 3 Corners Lake

I’m no fungus expert nor do I play one on tv, but my $ is on some variety of “hedgehog” mushroom.

WA High Country - 3 Corners Lake

Wake up call at 3:30am for this one. Quick check of the AQI…I’m looking for anything less than Coal Miner’s Lung…and it’s 70! Yes, let’s roll. In the car I powered up on coffee and mini chocolate donuts and before I knew it the trailhead was emerging from the darkness. Boots on the trail at...

    Fishing with Dogs

Pucci is a rescue mutt. I wonder what genes are in her that make her so gonzo around water. Surf fishing has been the only opportunity I’ve had to fish when she’s with me and she’s not romping in the water. Even then she doesn’t make it easy. It’s a good problem to have I suppose, the trade off...

    Bamboo in Heirman Country

Great book by Bob Hierman - Snohomish My Beloved Country. I found a signed copy in a used bookstore and pounced on it. Reading it makes one yearn for a time machine.

Waders - The awesome, the bad, the leaky

I have Guccis for regular use, love em, but I picked up some basic (non zipper) Paramounts for high country tubing. The Paramounts are light and pack down small, perfect for what I need. So far they haven’t let me down. I don’t know that I’d use them as hard as I do the Guccis though. I don’t...

    Carey Special fishing techniques

I like to use them as a trailing fly on occasion. Drop one back about 2’ or so behind something like a leech or bugger. The larger fly might get their attention but the Carey gets the bite.

    Your Single Fly

Just one fly? Originally dubbed the Sprout but later renamed the Frosty Nugg. It’s caught fish in fresh and salt water, nearing 10 different species by now. Shamelessly simple, wickedly effective.

Boat + hike lakes in western WA?

Yeah if you go to Rattlesnake go early. Get there too late and the clueless jackasses use the boat ramp as a parking area. Your faith in humanity will be tested.

Very Memorable Experiences in your Life

Junior year of high school. It was a rainy day so our gym teacher kept us inside for a rousing game of basketball. As we were wrapping things up and headed to the locker room coach came over and put his hand on my shoulder “Son, basketball is not the sport for you” and he walked away offering...

    High Lakes

That’s the stripping apron for my float tube. It makes a nice rod protector. I dig the ultralight ethos, but I’m not quite there yet. I can still suffer a few extra pounds for comfort and convenience.

    What's Catching You Fish?

A shameless craft fur midnight disco leech with a tungsten head on a Ahrex barbless jig hook. I went 2 for 3 with it today. 👌🏻 Whew I needed that.

    High Lakes

My rig for a 10 mile high country ramble. Blustery and chilly today with brief showers passing through to keep things interesting.

    Caddis Nevada Opinions and Reviews

For the limited distances and usage you propose I think the Caddis will do you fine. If it doesn’t, well, yer only out $90. It’s a decent basic tube with no frills. Not even an inflatable seat. 9 lbs? They gained a couple lbs over the years. Don’t we all I suppose.
