Lots of brackish water full of tannins. I never fished them. Small lakes have pike, get some stout leader and use streamer/mouse paytets. Clear water streams are full of grayling, parachute Adam's and bivisible patterns. Have fun

Use denatured alcohol, not rubbing. Too much will make the finish not harden properly and turn rubbery.

I think your arch is too shallow. PVC pipe can be bent. Heat them up with heat gun, radiant heater, etc. Make a jig for uniform arch.
