    River Snorkeling with Cutthroat

Awesome! I think I enjoy snorkeling the rivers almost as much as fishing. Sometimes I like to just ride the current and FLY through the run, other times grab a root or boulder and watch the show like you. The practice has really taught me where fish actually lie and where they don't. And...

    Puget Sound

I wasn't expecting much from my local beach, and in fact my expectations were fully met. But as always it was really nice to get out and be there.

    Tropical freshwater

A couple years back I had the opportunity to explore the upper Kafue River. I wish I had had more time to explore it before sunset. I was after various tilapia species and tigerfish. The last pic is of my local guide for the day walking past hippo tracks. I was warned not to eat any fish out...

    2024 Fishing Aspirations

Oh man, I have so many aspirations. I just got started with 2-handed casting in 2023. I would like to explore and get to know a couple SW WA rivers closer to home. Dedicate as much time on Puget Sound and Hood Canal as I can spare. I hope to explore and familiarize with a few rivers and...

The Fly Fisher in Olympia Is No More

I learned so much from Bjorn and really enjoyed his company and guidance over the years. This is a huge loss for the area. For present anglers who need a local hub, and for future anglers looking to get started. I also wish Bjorn and the dogs the best going forward.

    Tide Sites

Not sure what's up but Tides.net now allows tides to be viewed up to about 2 months ahead before blurring out (for now).

    2023 Bluegill/Crappie/Sunfish showoff thread

Thanks for this thread. Bluegill are so much fun. They were almost leaping out of the lilly pads chasing the fly

    Puget Sound

Though I can't speak for the community at large, I have personally kept a few once they reach a chunky 16-17" or greater. But mostly I like watching them swim away (like this one did).

    Puget Sound

A little light through the clouds and a resident coho.

    Area #13

I must be a little slow because I've been exploring this area for a bit and don't get any of those references. I will say DO NOT under any circumstances google "grandma's low hangers".

    Area #13

Same for me. The resident coho are about and were fond of a maroon shrimp tube pattern. Probably not long before they swim away. In our Deep South they often disperse in March.

    Puget Sound

Very true. It can often be inconsistent even with good currents and structure. I guess the the fish (and I) will be back when the baitfish and shrimp show up.

    Puget Sound

All these great pictures of fish! Mostly I'm just looking at smooth green water and a point. South Sound this day was empty with no visible life.

    Colorful Fall Trout

Not so flashy, but still pretty. Released quickly and gently.
