Always bittersweet to put up the coho gear for the year but gotta love the vibe of fall combo chum/SRC trips and winter SRC fishing.

This fly appeals to me a lot and some version of it will be in my saltwater SRC box this fall and winter.

The shape does look very kokaneeesque but that heavy silver pigmentation and spotting on the tail looks very chinookie. I don’t have a lot of experience with bright Kokanee. Is that a trait you are likely to see with them?

I fish both boats and shore a lot and can see both sides of this. Granted, my viewpoint is built off my experience fishing Puget Sound where shore access is limited and shrinking by the hour it seems. I personally would always, 100% of the time, cede my position on a boat to a public access...

I use 30 lb braid. If the hook eye is big enough you can double up the braid to make it a bit stiffer and stronger. I usually use size 1 Gamakatsu Octopus hooks. Don’t think the color matters IMO.
