    Quincy Lake 3/24-25

I spoke with a Fish Biologist from Grant County after a very slow day there in March. The biologist said there were more than 70 days last year with water temps over 70°. Their thought is a lot of those lakes had summer kill and they don't necessarily have the fish to restock them this year.

There's always that. But the number of folks there on Wednesday without a prize makes the weekend seem scary.

Quincy lakes are all ice free. Fishing derby tomorrow and Sunday. Great reason to stay away.

Stillwater indicator watchers: What's your approach?

I too have bad vision. Using a swivel keeps my offering in the water where it belongs not in my pram. If a trout wants to play with my swivel, hooksets are free, and they keep me awake.

Stillwater indicator watchers: What's your approach?

I believe they are 14s. The smallest I've found.

Stillwater indicator watchers: What's your approach?

Razor knife on a hard surface. I lose tippet rings too easily, swivels solve the problem.

Stillwater indicator watchers: What's your approach?

I do use the smallest swivel I can, more for changing setup than anything else. I also cut about 3/16" off the narrow end of the peg for weight reduction since it serves no purpose that I can tell.

Stillwater indicator watchers: What's your approach?

A couple years ago I started drilling out the indicator pegs. Make the hole big enough to let the swivel pass through. Solves this problem pretty easily.

    Quincy Lakes ice report

That's an improvement for Burke, I was there on Monday and only the area around the south boat launch was ice free out about 60'. Bait casters were thick. Another week should help immensely.
