    The Mountain Bike Thread

I'm currently running Continental Cross King 27.5" x 2.6 ProTection setup for tubeless. I wasn't a big believer in tubeless until I ran up the Deschutes.

    The Mountain Bike Thread

Here's the absurdity of what the Bridge Club is capable of. There's a cast iron frying pan in one of those panniers and fixins for fajitas. I know most bikepackers go light, but I bikepack so I can go far and camp comfortably. I usually just strap my fly rods in the sock with nylon buckle...

    The Mountain Bike Thread

I use a Surly Bridge Club hardtail on 27.5 x 2.6" for bikepacking and fishing. It's heavy and slow but it'll tote a lot of gear just about anywhere.

Ah. The new lighter, faster, more accurate Sage

Graphite is inherently stiffer than other rod making materials, which is the "modulus" you hear touted in marketing and tech speak that translates into "fast" and "very fast" action fly rods. Graphite itself has a wide range of modulus ratings, and both Sage/G.Loomis ran a gamut of these over...

    What Are You Eating?

$20 Costco prime brisket flat turned into smoked pastrami. 10 days on a brine, a day of rinsing and smoking on the pellet grill. Made for a great sandwich with a pickled jalapeno slaw and a hash.

    Freshwater coho flies

We had one year where Last Call's (used to be an Idylwilde tie, now Rio has 'em) and the infamous Sharpe Steelie fly just slayed them on the Kalama. Now I primarily use the below unless the water is dirty, then I roll out anything with a pink bunny or cerise bunny strip.

    Non-Fly Columbia fall coho

Nope, it's a 360 camera with lenses on both sides, then when you edit the video using the phone app you just turn the phone to track where you want. That was my first video and first attempt at editing so I'd say the technology has made it pretty easy, because it all seems like magic to me.

    Non-Fly Columbia fall coho

I had a solid few weeks tossing gear and trolling for the 'hos in my Kayak, but the water levels seemed to have jacked up Friday and the fish where I'm at seem to have finally pushed upriver. I trolled one up Saturday but it was slooooow. Time for me to start looking for them with the fly rod.

    What are you reading

I read the Murderbot books and I'm duly impressed with her as a writer. I have a giant fear of starting unfinished fantasy series so I'll probably wait until she gets a few more books under her belt for the Rising World series but I'm stoked to give it a go once it's close to finished. (Damn...

    What are you reading

Currently "reading" (listening to the audiobooks) the Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman. It's my first foray into LitRPG and I'm loving it. I just finished working through all 17 books from the Realm of the Elderling series by Robin Hobbs, which took way longer than it should have...

    Cowlitz Hatchery Sea-Run Cutthroat.

The first fish I ever saw caught on a fly rod was an SRC on the Cowlitz in Lexington, before the mountain blew. That singular moment captivated me and essentially launched my entire life's trajectory. Ironically, I've only ever tried fishing SRC's once despite living on the river during my...

How did you end up in your career?

I started working in the fishing industry in my early 20's. Tried college for a minute during that time but bailed after my apartment burned down and my girlfriend got pregnant (apparently sex can lead to children!!!) Moved back down to SW Washington to be a responsible parent and started a...

    NFR What Are You Drinking?

I'm currently on a Costco brand Pinot Grigio $5 bottle kick with my wife. We've been going through an embarrassing amount the last few months.
