    Salmon rod weight

Definitely my worry which is why I asked. I grew up around the mentality of trying to catch the biggest on the lightest. Which is fun a blast for sure, but I'd rather catch and release as much as possible to extend my day, (if I don't spend all day just trying to get a bite lol) not looking to...

    Setup for kids (teens)

Thanks all! Super helpful. I tend to overthink these things and talk myself out of buying cheaper stuff, but then don't buy the expensive thing because I can't afford it/justify it and just end up doing nothing 😆. Especially with so many choices!

    Setup for kids (teens)

I've got 2 boys, 13 and 15. Both of which fish with me with gear. I'm planning a couple trips to places that are fly only or back country where fly gear is just far better to pack in. There are several full outfits on the market, most of which will need better line. Anyone on here with kids have...

    Salmon rod weight

Thanks! Good to know, right now I've got a Redington Wrangler, Lamson Liquid with 2 spools, one one of which is lined with cortland streamer intermediate tip. It's a medium fast rod. Fast action would probably be better for some of the larger streamers, but I've been able to toss some fairly big...

    Salmon rod weight

Currently saving up for an 8wt setup, but don't want to miss out on the Coho run. I have a 6wt now, is it worth trying to fish with, or will it be too light? I've only ever salmon fished with gear prior, but I've gotten addicted to fly and don't really want to fish gear anymore if I can help it...

    What's in your vise?

Not sure if this pattern has a name or is similar to one. I had been looking for something similar to a hoochie for salmon. Couldn't find anything a pattern like what I had in my head, so made a shank so it could articulate, skirt on the hook, marabou head. The first one did not look good lol...

    Trip this weekend?

Spent a few hours out there today. No luck, but lots to discover still. Exploring new water is always enjoyable whether I get something in the net or not. Definitely an awesome area with a LOT more room to spread out than what I'm used to.

    Trip this weekend?

Well, it's been almost a month since I have been able to make it out on the water so I'm feeling pretty squirrely. Most the stillwater is too warm (to bank fish) and I don't have the time to get deep into the alpine wilderness to get to cooler water. And most the rivers close by are closed. The...
