Speaking of metal jigs... this is how we run the hooks on those. Not often getting short struck. May lose a few after the initial run, but this hook configuration works. The only jigs you really see run from the rear are the ones that flutter down vs being retrieved horizontal or vertical...

Considering how metal jigs work, a spinning fly wouldn't even begin to bother me.

I've learned to not make blanket statements about brands as the fit/feel changes from model to model, and even between generations of the same model. Sometimes significantly. The bloody feet pic in the first post was my Adidas Adios Pro 3 actually - that's my most aggressive shoe.

I actually thinned my roster down a little bit last month. Just down to these now. Seems perfectly reasonable.

Yeah I should've wore my tempo shoes. More comfy, less agressive, and I've run much longer distances in them. So would've been the right happy medium. Anyone who thinks they have a problem with too many fly rods should talk to serious runners 😆

I considered it, but didn't install one. At least not permanently. If I do use one, I'll just do one that slips on and off the blank. No need to permanently install it.

aye. Wore my super aggressive race shoes which punish you for not running perfectly... which I was not doing after rolling my foot and kind of limp running for half the race. They're still pretty chewed up today even.

While I'm a hard core DIY-ist, this particular craft falls into a similar category as fly tying for me. Just not compatible with my strange head wiring. So I'll leave this to people who are far more talented than I am 😂
