There was a story on the Westfly site a few years ago where John Montana and his buddies saw a sturgeon while fly fishing for carp on the Columbia. They hooked it and landed it. It was incredible.

A group of us went pond fishing in central OR a couple weeks ago. We dealt with snow and cold and howling wind the first two days. The third day was picture perfect. Fish were caught by all.

The "rod count" event is pretty weird. I haven't ever had a bad encounter with a game warden, even when I was in the wrong.
