    Strange Day on the Lake

Maybe there was a difference in the retrieve or he didn’t detect a subtle take. I’ve caught plenty of fish on lousy casts but a good cast with immediate line control works so much better. I’m convinced that fish hear the fly hit the water and if you are fishing right away, you’ll sometimes catch...

Batstone Pond Location - Mason County for jumbo trout

I don’t fish kids ponds but I just assumed that jumbo trout would not be planted in stormwater ponds where they are guaranteed to die later in the summer when the pond dries up. Not knowing this pond at all, I was just asking.

Batstone Pond Location - Mason County for jumbo trout

Number of stocked fish in WA lowland lakes

I've learned a lot about lake fly fishing by fishing these stocked lakes. Since I know there are a lot of fish and fairly easy to catch, I do a lot of experimenting with different flies and presentations. I bought about 10 different size/styles of San Juan worms a couple of years ago and only...

Number of stocked fish in WA lowland lakes

I started fly fishing some Western Washington Lakes a few years ago because they're so accessible for me. Out of curiosity I created a spreadsheet of lakes that were stocked calculating an estimate of fish per acre (using this years plants). Out of about 20 lakes I calculated, the density ranges...
