Ive seen #16-18 PMD’s in Montana. And they were Pale. As i mentioned, these are bright yellow or charteuse and #12. Also, PMD’s have a light gray wing. These are yellow.

Ive been tying them on a 60 degree jig hook with 10wraps of lead behind the bead because most of the time i fish it under an oros indicator. If i want to retreive or troll i take off the indicator and it still catches fish.

Jim- On that particular pattern i use the black bead to imitate a leech. Other successful leech patterns there with colored beads are:
