I think Martin reels are really cool. American made, classic, quality reels, not too fancy or expensive. Can find them for pretty cheap. Look at the Martin MG-3 for your 4 weight!

Big game solar 40lb is hard to beat. I do really like Varivas Airs 45lb? running line too though it is expensive.

I recommend a fly tying kit like the Orvis one. It comes with a vise and all tools needed plus a good variety of natural and synthetic materials to tie flies and instructions to tie also. I bought one of these kits 15 yrs ago for not very much money and still use the vise and all the tools.

I think snake roll is easier than a single-spey because the oval shape you make with the rod tip places your anchor and helps change your direction while putting energy back to form a nice D loop.

I just recently rebuilt a rod and wanted to share this. I use the underside of an aluminum can to mix up and hold the flex coat epoxy for coating wraps. It makes a nice little cup and doesn't introduce bubbles when mixed also doesn't cost anything!
