Spent the weekend fishing Winston bamboo in Jackson Hole.

My fishing partner fished mostly dries on a brisk 8'6" 4.25 ounce Winston 5 weight. I fished wets on a more relaxed 9' Winston 4.5 ounce 6 weight. Both rods are hollow built, light in hand but with plenty of power to reach across broad snake river riffles.

I did well swinging size 14 grouse and olive, partridge and orange and partridge and yellow soft hackles. I think a strand of chrystal flash or flashabou under the soft hackle gives an attractive glitter.

Look at the lovely orange fins on this snake river cutthroat.

Finished the day with a tasting flight: High Point Mother Trucker Cider, Grand Teton Handle Brau Pilsner, Grand Teton Teton Juicy IPA, Boulevard Berry Noir Sour.

This is what rush hour looks like at the Four Seasons Jackson Hole Teton Village on day one of the Jackson Hole One Fly.

Jackson Hole isn't just big water. Lake Creek on the Lawrence Rockefeller Preserve is great 3 weight water with cutts to 12 inches. Reminds me of Taneum Creek. The flatter water requires about a mile or so walk up the trail to Phelps lake.

how about a picture and recipe for your favorite #18 Quigley Cripple Tim? I looked and found quite a few different approaches to the pattern.

A lot of quigley’s flies look similar to each other. And they’re all really good and infinitely riffable. A variation on the film critic is my go to spring creek fly.

Dave, so cool to see a successful trip to GTNP! We were there in late June, far too early for fishing the streams which were swollen with runoff.
