What's in your vise?

Here’s take 2 of the baitfish pattern I tried yesterday. This time I used Steve Farrar Blend winging material in “bleeding minnow” color and a topping of pearl green Angel Hair. The hook this time is a #6 Daichi 2456. (I wish I could find a black nickel hook in this size and shape.)View attachment 66171
Could probably do with about half the amount of the main winging material and again shorten it up. Maybe the 3rd try will be the charm.

You might try this for a black hook. - Gamakatsu SL45 Saltwater Bonefish fly hooks. I think heavier wire though.

3/8” I.D. O-rings - you can find in any home improvement or auto parts store. I keep 2 spares on my vise shaft, just in case.

Scott
I keep meaning to do this, but a vegetable rubber band wrapped around there until tight worked for years until it broke, and then a replacement rubber band was as close as the kitchen junk drawer...but I might randomly remember this next time I go to the hardware store now.

Leech pattern. mimicking stuff I've seen by Tom butler

A trout wrecked my favorite stone fly nymph yesterday, so recreated with slight variations. Pretty happy with it. Wire could be more even, but thicker guage would have helped.

Zak, the original pattern calls for "dark olive sparkle blend and grey squirrel dyed olive". I used a dark olive antron dubbing. I think greenish peacock herl would work great.
