Trying to adjust to tying with a crappy bobbin after forgetting to pack the 2 S&Ms I’ve been using for the past 35 years. It’s a cheap Matarelli midge knockoff whose saving grace is the short tube and compact size (still about an inch longer than the S&M)
Tube frayed thread immediately, so I epoxied glass bead top and bottom (DIY ceramic insert substitute); it’ll have to do for the next 2 months since I have no plan to pay a single penny due to my own stupidity.

Looks good otherwise! Would love to see your rendition of a Grand Ronde River Rat sometime, I always dug that pattern.
Tried something a bit different on a chum fry pattern. Used flat diamond braid then put a thin layer of super glue down. Glued the legs to the braid then coated the body with bone dry. The legs beyond the body move well and flow nicely with the other materials.
I’m still not satisfied as I think the legs get lost in all the other materials but maybe it doesn’t matter.
