My throw back Thursday fly of the week: Irish Car Bomb
Originated by Tom Larimer The Irish Car Bomb (fly) is named after the drink. A half pint of Guinness, with a shot glass full of a half shot of Jameson and a half shot of Baileys dropped into it boilermaker style after a late night tying session with perhaps a few to many.

Since my trip to the St. Joe in September where I witnessed the trout taking what I originally called a Spruce Moth (actually the Fall Webworm Moth, essentially a white Spruce Moth), I have been playing with imitations for them. Mainly trying to capture the broad wings which would lay flat on the water. My first design used a small foam cylinder, extended body, hackle-tip wings, and the lightest dry fly hackle I have (pale dun) on an Umpqua U202 size 12. The second version is a wrapped white foam body and the same wings and hackle on a size 10 1X long hook. I like the last one best because it will be much more durable and it is easy to tie. Those hackle-tip wings look good but won't hold up to more than one or two fish. The pattern is called the UG Bug (Utility Guide fly) - .

These wrapped foam bodies are too slim and need to be more robust.
