Found this fly here. Gave up on needle-formed bodies a long time ago when I started tying Carnage flies because of headaches with the transfer process; mono core provides a much more substantial base. YMMV.

This one falls under the category of Probably Not Worth The Effort but it’ll float a 3oz pyramid sinker; borrowed the Iris Caddis loop wing from Charlie Craven’s version.

Prom Queen Salmonfly

P6130590.JPG
Hook: Firehole #718, #6
Thread: UTC 140, Burnt Orange
Abdomen: Furled brown and orange (or salmon) acrylic yarn
Wing: Elk Mane
Flash: Polar flash
Body: 2mm brown or light brown foam
Legs: Vinyl or silicon barred legs
Indicator: optional 2mm foam

This particular fly is the creation of Walter Wiese, former head guide of Parks' Fly Shop in Gardiner, MT but now operating Yellowstone Country Fly Fishers out of Livingston, MT. He describes the Prom Queen in his book Yellowstone Country Flies--The Fly Patterns of Parks' Fly Shop. (2013). He named the fly the Prom Queen because "the fly is good looking, popular, and easier than you would think." Works well anywhere large salmon flies are around.
