What's Catching You Fish?

So I kind of took the bird of prey as a base but just put a couple wire wraps as the beads were too heavy. Removed the tail, and darkened the front by adding a rust thorax, partridge, then a tuft of black dubbing, another hackle, then the peacock head, in sz 6. It got abused.

This was not the hatch I was attempting to match

A little Halloween Trick or Treat!
Having had better luck recently for stillwater trout with a gurgler than anything subsurface (??), I had 45 min to hit a little OP lake tonight, so just grabbed my old Eagle Claw 4wt glass with this on it

...and popped up a couple surprise LM! Not big, but they bent that little stick over and made my evening

SRC seem to like these. Variation of what I think is called a Steamboat Leech or Slammer?

Whoa! Did my best to copy that fly, except went with pink bunny, lavendar and white belly.
Was only catching the occasional smallish RB this afternoon on the usual lake flies, so I tied that fresh bunny on, and BAM - fat, jumpy 15-17"ers every few minutes for the next hour! Dang - gonna need more of those!
Thanks, @troutpocket !

Simiseal dubbing, chartreuse (tungsten) bead on the shank and a little ghost shrimp dubbing as a hot spot.

Healthy trout, cold water - my feet were numb after three hours kicking around. I hiked out close to a mile and half with my float tube, my feet got warm the last 1/4 mile.

Adding to my previous post:
A different OP lake all to myself this afternoon. Spent a fruitless hour trying all the flies that usually work here, then put on the pink bunny, and again - bam!
20221102_123154.jpgTen-ish fat, healthy trout over the next couple hours. Switched out with other baitfish flies a couple times, but nada - all on that one fly! A mix of cutts and bows, and... what is this?? It has cutt slashes, but I've never seen this spot pattern. Cool looking!

I hope folks won't be offended at: 1) my lousy filet job, and/or 2) death of a couple trout, and 3) crude fly pattern (fished on a full sinking line)

Thesankers and I met up yesterday and fished Lake Roosevelt. Hot spotting, oh my! The water was 40F, ice in the launch bay but none on the river. I harvested two trout, 18" and 18.5" (as measured by a Spokane Tribal fish checker). The filets are dry brining right now, I'll wash them, and air dry them in the fridge tonight and smoke 'em tomorrow morning. No, they aren't hard to keep lit.
Look pretty tasty to me,nothing wrong with the fly if it catches fish, that’s always been my philosophy, that’s just me.
