Randy,
You ever think about wearing a glove before sliding your hand up there?
Well done!

I've thought about it. Usually the only reason for that hold is if I'm either having to go digging for the fly or if I want a hero shot. I had to dig on this one. Last week I did scrape my knuckles on some of the little teeth...added to the mess. Besides, sometimes you have to pay homage to the musky gods. Especially when they are looking favorably at you.

Blood letting to the fish gods…
Not sure I’d give them suckers a taste of human blood…
You’ll be on the menu next.
🤔

When tying, if you can keep your overhand knot as close to the hook eye as possible your loop will be smaller.
Sometimes easier said than done.🙂
Thx. The ultragreen behaves just a bit different than the tippet I had been using, a hair stiffer, so a bit of adjustment is needed, and I just don't pay attention to the details sometimes. I did cut the added loop off my type 6 too, and nail knotted on a 20# chameleon butt section. Really enjoying the stillwater fishing so playing with some system refinements while I can make some catch comparisons. I think I like 2 flies with loop knots better than 3 or 1 most of the time as well.
