What's Catching You Fish?

I don't like this forum topic. Most guys would rather tell you where to fish than what what they are using successfully. But for those who have, much appreciated.
I have given your comments considerable thought and somewhat agree with your second sentence. The very few folks who ask me what I am using are bait guys. Usually tell them Bugger, shrimp, or midge imitation. The rare fly fisherman I come in contact with almost never asks about the flies I am using and I don't ask about theirs. I don't necessarily think this is deliberate concealment but just a feeling of avoiding overstepping decorum. Isn't it more rewarding to observe, duplicate, and dial in on your own than to have someone tell you, "tie on a size 20 Adams"!

As for revealing (hot-spotting) "where to" I can't help but think about the overpopulation issues that face this country and this state. It's not a matter of being unfriendly but more a matter of preserving a vanishing resource!

I have learned to stay clear of Chopaka and other over rated (IMHO) fisheries were there is probably more of this inquisitive behavior going on.

As for this particular forum, I would think, "What's in your Vise" would take care of everyone's needs.

I don't like to hot spot fishing locations unless they're obvious to even the most casual observer; Rocky Ford Creek comes to mind. On the other hand, I've been pretty grateful to other anglers who did share what ane how they were fishing when they were catching and I wasn't. The reverse being true - I enjoy sharing the "key" if I have it figured out (on those rare occasions when I do).

My friends Herb, Keith and I were fishing a BC lake, there were two Canadians anchored up on the edge of a shoal; they were hooked up almost constantly where the three of us were hooking up infrequently. I kicked over and complimented their skills and asked if they would tell me what they were fishing. They were gracious with their description of the midge that was working for them. I just happened to have an olive midge with red ribbing in a size 16; that fly change up put me into fish including my best of the trip. Soon enough Herb and Keith were changing flies and reaping the benefit of someone sharing knowledge. For me, at least, that's part of the decorum. (I flashed back to Animal House when I read your post "we have received more than two dozen reports of individual acts of perversion SO profound and disgusting that decorum prohibits listing them here." ;-)

10 3xl black bugger, red glass bead, blue flash. I'll try a several flies an outing but this one by far takes the most fish.

15,000 fish planted, and it's usually me and one other floater and a couple bank anglers. Come get some before the heat does 'em in.

You had me until the last sentence ;) I don’t think what’s catching you fish leads to hot spotting or any worry to such activities.

During the salmon run you may even see a hook on here with some dog hair, or a fat piece of a yarn on a big hook with weight “booby”

What you say about preserving a vanishing resourcing is spot on. I tease but rarely show the goodies, you gotta really butter me up.

I've found the thin mints only work for me when the sun shines, but then they really shine. This one has a soft olive grizzly hackle and blue flash.
