What about that weather?

Tell ya what, Seeger Effect, let me know if you want me to hoof it down to Lenice before the opener - you know, to see if there's open water.

All joking aside, two weeks ago my wife and I counted a couple dozen guys fishing Banks through the ice. Two days ago, only two people. We saw open water about two miles south of Steamboat Rock.......

I always wonder about the first guy to get out on the ice and the last for the year🤣 seem both could end up missing😮

Last of the year is the sketchiest time IMHO. Early in the year, if there was 4" of clear ice early-on we were comfortable walking on it.

Shit pics, but stuff is already popping out.
They are wag’n their leaves in the face of the Seeger Effect…. ;)

Wait, this was our chance to rid us all of the Seeger effect. 😁
Thanks Evan, Billy & Josh for getting this not only off the ground, but kicking some ass. Site looks great!

So my wife and I did a little hike in the desert yesterday. It has been warmer around here lately and I noticed last week that the golf course ponds were melting at the edges. So with the warmer weather and strong wind the past couple days I packed along my new rod I finally finished to this lake.

Hmm. Didn't bother to assemble the rod. However, I did hike in my new Eddie Bauer fleece lined pants I got from Costco on the recommendation of many from this board. They were comfy, if not too warm. I read a complaint about the velcro on the back pocket. I will just say that you will not lose your wallet, in fact, you will struggle to get your wallet out when you want it. But overall, love the pants, love the price.

Finally I came home and made meatloaf on the kamodo. Tasty, but I didn't get a pic so can't post it in the supper club. But if you haven't smoked a meatloaf before, you should.

River bumped up last night and was running brown this morning. Visited my mom in Yakima this afternoon and headed up this morning to fish but that wasn’t happening. Still was a fun drive through the lower canyon.

This melts ice right?

Tell me this will be enough... anyone except Shawn that is. ;)
My wife and I enjoy walking along one of the lakes here in the Basin, today we thought we could hear the ice groaning; soft "whump, whump" like sounds. There's hardly any snow left on top of the ice but then there was absolutely zero open water. Soap Lake has had a bit of open water just out of town; today there were geese standing on the water that's above the ice at the "open" water place. Lenore has a small piece of open water at the south end (the area that's permanently closed to angling). Alkali, Blue and Park are frozen solid still (but we did hear the ice groaning (or moaning?).

I pitched a rock out on the ice - slid a long distance.

Just to the left of Raccoon Point there's some open water...........

Respectfully submitted

I'm not convinced everything will be open by March 1st

It's freezing (literally) every night. I'm half tempted to hike into our small lake tomorrow to see if the stream flow has opened up anything.

Go for it. If I had to guess though I would still think several days.
