I’m wanting to fish Belize at least one more time. I’ve fished out of El Pescador on my three previous trips and was very pleased. Since my last trip was in 2010 I would appreciate any recent personal experiences and updates on the lodge, guides, fishing and any other pertinent issues.

Were I do go back to Belize yet again I would definitely go back to Turneffe Flats. Glad to say more by PM if you wish.
 
See my Avatar. The guide (no longer working) put me into a lot of permit. I got 3 on my first outing. This was out of San Pedro, Ambergis Cay. NIce town, good restaurants, great bars.
 
Was set to go late January but United canceled our flights a week before the trip so unfortunately we bagged it... Was looking forward to Ambergris Caye.....
 
My wife and I fished Belize a few years ago. We stayed at a regular resort near San Pedro on Ambergris Caye and fished with Wil Flack, the owner Tres Pescados Fly Shop. It was the best of both worlds for us. Wil would pick us up in the morning at the resort's dock, we would fish most of the day, and then return to the resort in the afternoon. After fishing we could hang by the pool, snorkel, take a bike ride, or hit a bar and eat at local restaurants in San Pedro.

I need to add that Wil is a very good guide and very knowledgeable, but he could be a little intense at times when we didn't deliver a perfect cast to a tailing permit at 60 feet backhand in a 20mph wind.... But we made enough shots to catch fish and have some good times....
 
Are you guys buying your fishing license before you go or doing it when you get there and if you do where on Ambergris?

The website for CZM to purchase the license is down for a while and they are only doing bank wire transfers which is high with BoA
 
Went to Turtle Inn (Placencia) 3 years ago and booked a few days with Blue Horizon. Fished with Lincoln Westby on one of those days. He got us in to permit, tarpon, and bonefish. Truly an epic (and humbling) day. My wife didn’t mind staying at the hotel while my son and I fished. Heading back this month and staying at Thatch Caye (think we get boat in Dangriga) and Copal Tree Lodge (Punta Gorda).
