Wandering around in the cold

With the sadly dry winter weather the roads were clear for an adventure. The forecast was for temps in the 40s but in the morning the car read 8 degrees, and I hit some thick freezing fog. Uh oh!

Stopped for some sightseeing. I guess that's why they call it Picture Rock Pass...

With no wind the conditions were quite nice actually.

Nymphing was OK. Nothing too exciting.

Around 1pm a bwo hatch started bringing some small fish to the surface. Just so happens that I have a 4wt Lami s-glass with a new/old double taper line I just bought from clongtsn (thnx Chris) in the classifieds. Also tried my Cutthroat braided leader. Perfect. Despite bushes in my back-cast and operator error, I had fun getting fish on a little cdc dry.

A long drive but home safe and sound

1:00 PM seems to be a very popular time for BWOs to hatch during the colder months. It was always around 1:00 that the hatch came off on the Met, the McKenzie, the Willamette plus the secret rivers I once fished.

NIce fish photo.
