Oh man, got to Kauai 2 days ago. First 36 hrs was rough as United Airlines misplaced my bag with the rods and other gear. They delivered the bag to me last night here in Princeville. Today, we fish!
Was there in 2016. Zero luck on bones, but had fun with papio and missed a good sized omilu boil on a popper in a reef cut. What beaches are you planning to fish?

I plan to fish anini for sure since it’s right down the hill. Probably Hanalei bay somewhere but no experience with that area. Heading to poipu beach for second half of the trip and had luck there in the past. Any recommendations ?

I stuck to Wylie beach and fished it pretty hard. Other than small reef fish and papio the only larger fish action was missing popper takes from a dinner plate sizes BF Trevally, and a 3' needle fish in a deep reef cut.

We instituted a slot limit on our boat this year for uku/green jobfish to protect the big breeders. All uku over 12 pounds are released now, so Dalton was a little grumbly when we made him release this 16 pound beauty 😂.....

We had steady action on 6-10 pounders and several nice bonus goatfish on jigs.

Melissa hooked TWO big goats on one jig and landed both. She then topped it off with a beautiful Kagami. My absolute favorite sashimi.

Then a client from Washington took his first GT...he was shocked at the raw power IMG_2346.jpeg
And the day was capped by sashimi cut by Nate, using the hand forged, single-bevel Japanese yanagiba knife I bought him for his birthday....
