The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

Well Steve, you saw me try my dry tonight for 10 minutes. Haha! I'm still hunting for my first dry fish of the year. At this rate, it'll probably be a bass.
Fun fishing with you and @BigSplashTom tonight. Good luck tomorrow!
Good times last night for sure. I managed to get my dry fly April catch. Bit unintentional but it still counts. Haha. Bobber and casting nymphs on floater was just too effective.

Update;
I was padding the catch numbers on the bobber on local lake when Steve says come on Tom tie on a dry. Of course he makes this suggestion only so he can get ahead of my catch count. I cast the dry to targets and nothing, then I look away and down she goes. OK, you happy Steve? I got one fish for April on the dry. Ok, ok, maybe not intentionally caught on the dry but still on the dry.
Just for the record Steve released 21 more than I did. See, he totally scammed me with that put on the dry fly thing

Yesterday Steve and I fished a local lake during the monsoon. Just before the wind and rain kicked into full ugly Steve's Franken-kara was invited by a rainbow to take a swim-about. The fish kept swimming away with the rod so Steve suggested all the rod needs is a rooster tail and it might look like a contender for Miss Bud. One heck of a funny moment for sure.

They’re local garden variety bamboo! We call them ugly sticks….but, they’ll cast just as well as any bamboo rod…..and the looks we get at the boat launch are priceless!!

Finally on the board. 2 on true dries and a couple more on said dry that was no longer floating on top, but making a subtle v in the surface.
This is all after the downpours tonight because, you know...that thing called work. 😒 Would've loved to been out there before the rain.

Are you sure that is bamboo? Most bamboo I see is much straighter. That rod there needs a little blue pill 1 hour before fishing.
Here is a better picture of the Bamboo rod I was fishing. I also used it at Corbett lake last summer and must say it really surprised me how much fun this ugly stick was to fish. It is my primary indicator rod and only 6ft 6inches long.
Yeah it's goofy looking but I have released lots of fatties and way too many stockers on this rod.
Hardest part was winding the last 4 guides near the top. The rod cycled up and down about 14inches. I finally used my fly tying bobbin to tie the guides instead of winding the rod.

It was one of three rods I had with me, I didn’t use it a ton. It is 9 ft long and heavy to hold and cast, very top heavy. I have a Japanese made medalist-type reel on it.
