The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

Starting in January are you up to the challenge of catching a trout on a dry/floating emerger each month? Any lake….on the honor system if there is such a thing as “honor” amongst us fly fishers….. We trust you…..no need to name the lake but even better if you have some witnesses to verify your amazing feat! Test your skills, should be fun!
(Bonus points if C&R’d with bamboo!!)

I can’t believe you’ll be able to get Brian away from the beach during coho season to participate in this challenge. Even with the additional fishing time he’ll be afforded go forward! Looks like we’ll finally find out how much floatant it takes to fish a clouser as dry in 2025 :).

So how about you?

I’m pretty salmon centric when it’s open. My lake fishing usually happens January to June. Maybe in the future when I have more fishing time, or they close salmon.

I have done this on rivers in a couple of different states though (CO and CT) and 11 out of 12 months in MT. It’s a fun challenge.

Two words: Booby eyes.

It will be difficult for me to catch a trout on any fly, let alone a dry fly, in the months that I don't fish lakes, which is about 10 of them. Otherwise, yeah, I'd be in!

I'm lucky if I fish for trout on a lake once a year!

New Year’s resolution…..try 12 times this year!
If I was willing to allow that to cut into some of my musky and carp, I'd consider it ...that's just not gonna happen until maybe I retire.

I love the idea but I didn't even come close to fishing every month last year. And what fishing I did do was mostly in streams. I will cheer the contenders on though!
