The good boat deal thread

Hey,
Anybody interested? It works really well in my Clearwater and would be great in a pontoon. The idea is stolen from the kayak fishing guys. There are a ton of videos on the tube.
I bought myself a real boat so I could stand. This controller doesnā€™t make since now for anywhere I might take a motor so itā€™s on the market.
Motor not included.
Hereā€™s a video in action posted in PNWflyfishing:

Assuming it's in decent shape. This would be a pretty good bass boat deal for someone who didn't require a 4 stroke on the back.

Looks a lot like an old Lavro/Yellowstone without gunwales. Probably pretty noodly as it sits, stiffened up they handle like ferraris

I admit, I know almost nothing about drift boats.

It looks a lot like my old drift boat (which I paid $100 for as a bare hull). I donā€™t remember the name of the guy who made them, I think it was somewhere in SW washington. Mine wasnā€™t noodly, because the glass was pretty thick and the wrapped top edge added stiffness. What it was was small - 42ā€ bottom width, 13ā€™ overall. Made for an interesting ride in class 3 stuff, and I was never dumb enough to take it in anything bigger. Could get down my local steelhead river in low water, when no-one else could. I was told that it was designed for pulling plugs, and it was great for that because it was so much lighter to row than a big barge.

Itā€™d be fairly easy to add gunwhales to it. Maybe $30-200 in parts depending on the wood you select and the hardware you use (marine hardware has gotten stupid expensive).
Yeah, the old yellowstone of mine had in and outwales of quartersawn doug fir, with blocking of ash, throughbolted with stainless. I had the ash in inventory, and ripped and steambent a vg fir 2x6 to make the wales. Otherwise, all the interior verticals I made from ash, the horizontals I made from 3/4 oak plywood, all varnished. T'was pretty and a very wonderful rowing boat. I think Jerry Daschofsky had or has one. The problem with it for me was hitting rocks...the hull itself has a very thin layup, and it's no fun around here sitting on your garage floor in January with a hair dryer trying to get epoxy putty to kick off. I do miss this boat.

It's a great-looking boat.
