Uncle: I used to live in Los Osos many many years ago. If you are ever in Oregon and want to fish the coast or inland let me know.I fish for surf perch several times a week, but I'm way down south in the Morro Bay area. I don't know anything about your redtails, but our barred surf perch seem to like orange and red flies in size 2-6. I catch them on buggers, Clousers, and mole crab imitations. My favorite fly lately is a bright red or orange bugger with a bright orange bead/cone head. But your choice of fly is not as important as finding the fish. That part is where the challenge lies, and I've found it to be a rewarding journey. Good luck out there.
That is a great site for references.Super dated site, but solid all around info...

Or something equivalent. That's it.
That sounds good to me, I'll keep that offer in my back pocket for later. I've lived here in Osos for the last 25 years.
