Looking for a short belly with changeable tips for my SageX 8130. I fish with and like the Rio Short head spey on my 7130. I see that Bridge has a head with similar features. the Winter Tide. Anyone fishing it, if so what are your thoughts about it? Are there other lines in this category that I might want to look into? Thanks

I was out the other day casting my 540 compact skagit the casting was so ugly and lacked power.
I was wishing I had my windcutter back... never really paid attention before but skagit heads just kinda suck.

Compact Skagits are 10 million times better than the Windcutter, which in MO was the worst line ever made.

I've got some Windcutters, if you are interested in cutting them up and splicing.
🤣

Gonna be rocking a 575 Skagit max launch with 10’ T-11, T-14. First time doing Skagit heads. Think this thing is basically 22-23’ head. Been using Rage heads which are I guess a tweener between Scandi and Skagit. I’m gonna be trying out a couple new things this next week. Look forward to it but also giving up what you know and can do for something with no clue how it will work is exciting and a bit nerve racking too.
I’ll be using not the 8130 X but the 8120 X

So the stuff about Skagits and 3/4d scandis is interesting; keep 'em coming. I'm really looking for input from someone that's fished a Bridge Wintertide and or other short-belly lines that work with inter-changeable tips. thx.

Contact Poppy at Red Shed and get some demo lines to try!
The Gailforce lines are probably the most popular line in the market rigjt now.
I don't have much experience with them, but the few I have, are very good encounters with a very lively and forgiving line that came out of tha water very easily.

Just ordered a Gaelforce EMT head from Red Shed. They told me that my Rio tips will work with that line. Looking forward to trying out my first GF line, if the river ever drops into shape.

If you got the 8/9 it uses 128 grain tips (15’ #9) in the kit. I had someone ask what line I was using because they thought it cast beautifully after watching me fish! - I am a hack. That’s a sweet line for tips.

I got the 550gr 8/9. My Rio tips are #8 @110gr so I'll be in at 530gr overall. Be interesting to see how it casts. Maybe a set of the #9 are in order to get the right grainage on the head, we'll see.

The EMT comes complete with tips. The 8/9 comes with 15 foot 9-weight tips.

You will be fine.
And will have it soon, Poppy must have connections.

I went ahead and updated my order to get the whole kit. I think the rod would benefit from the extra grainage and my 8wt Rio tips can stay with my single-hand versatip line. Can't wait to see what all the fuss with Gaelforce lines is about.

I hope you do come back and tell us what you think. Lot's of GF lovers out there. I have never cast their lines or their rods.

I love the GF longer lines. I just can't wrap my head around taper really mattering in a 20' line. I've been fishing an Airflo compact skagit since they came out and see no reason to change.

Ever cast a nextcast zone? That line has made me change my mind about skagit heads.

Yeah, one came with my 7127. I do like it, maybe marginally better than the regular compact skagits I have. Still feels like baitcasting to me though. :ROFLMAO:
man I love it compared to a skagit. So much smoother and lively to cast IMO.

If I could ever get a wintertide in my grain weight I’d be happy to fish one. Might have to try an EMT instead now 😂
