Seward area in March or April

Hi all,

I’ve got a work trip coming, not sure exactly when but sometime in March or April. I’ll be in Seward, and if there are good options available I plan to stay a couple extra days to fish.

If I were to go with the charter route, it looks like halibut and rockfish are available (I mean it’s AK, so maybe that’s obvious). March looks good for kings as well. Is there a decent chance of bad weather canceling me during any given two-day window, though?

River-wise, I know I’m too early for salmon but I presume there might be some good dolly or bow action? I know the Kenai is a driveable distance but dunno what kind of shape it’ll be in.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Very decent chance of bad weather, it’s the vernal equinox and iirc that and the autumnal could bring some nasty stuff. But, it could also be very nice. Thinking the Kenai will be closed, usually opens early June. Call Mossy’s fly shop in Anchorage for the lowdown on what’s available.
the Sealife Center in Seward is worth a day.
