Question for those who aren't using dark mode to view the site

The dark mode actually hurts my eyes, the yellow on black. I use light mode and adjust the brightness. Down to 15% if I'm laying in bed. I have suffered textbook migraine headaches my whole life too, light mode doesn't trigger them, neither does dark, but it just messes with my eyes.

I use the bright, harsh light of traditional mode to combat my seasonal affective disorder and to annoy my wife when I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t sleep.

All kidding aside, I’m enjoying dark mode quite a bit.

Mostly to piss off the mods.
Doesn't piss off me. Evan is the Dark(mode) Prince on this topic.

I don't hate darkmode and use it on some websites. But many of my formative internet forum years were on a site that used the classic white background style (and was the first database backed forum software package). I ended up being involved with that community for 15+ years and, to me, forums = light design.

I also don't tend to look at the internet in the dark very often.

I'm liking dark mode!

How dare you. Billy has been converted, too!

But I literally dark mode everything on my computer. It is more than a preference; it's a lifestyle.

Dark mode all the way, even in daytime. Much easier on my eyes especially when I'm staring at screens for hours on end.

Thanks for doing it,
Kenneth

I had no clue what you were asking about. Dark mode? Is this some Star Wars thing? I accidentally clicked on the "moon" icon instead of the magnifying glass; lo and behold! Dark mode. I really didn't know what I'd done but was able to change back (technology challenged (TC me) doesn't begin to describe where I'm at in this modern world).

One function this site doesn't seem to have is "zoom" when you click on a picture. I tried to zoom on your screen print to figure out how dark mode might be used (if that's what your showing) but the image is (at least for TC me) is static; unzoomable (new word). I'll google dark mode as I do like it, my current avatar is easier to see. NRN.

The zoom feature is called "lightbox," and should be something @Josh can get activated. I may have a look here but if I can't get it done before i'm out of time here I'm sure he can.

Do you hate your eyes and like headaches?
I choose to not use dark mode. Is that okay? Ido not like glowing text. And i do see great having had cataract surgery a couple years ago. Having the option is fine but if you truly want to know take the portal on your left to a future date when you are 70 and perhaps you would then understand or not.

I even dark mode my Kindle. I read all my books white text on black background. I'm very committed.

It's nice to have the option and that a person can easily switch back and forth.
Thanks for adding it.
That said, I'm still not a convert but working on it.:)

It's ok! You have a community of support here to help you through this!

I tried it for a few days but switched back. It's cool and pleasing in a sense, but to me it was harder to look through a sub forum and determine which threads had new posts and which I had already read through.

Never had any eye issues or headaches personally, so just not a big deal for me personally. I like that the option is there to run it either way.
