Post your old fly collections

What if we changed this thread to old flies? Flies only no rods or reels...I'm not sure I've ever seen a collection of old flies? Plenty of rods, reels and lures.

longputt,
A couple years ago on the obsolete board I started posting flies acquired over the years. I've been around fly tying a long time, fished many places and have bumped into lots of the famed fly tiers from our sport-quite a few of them no longer with us. Heck I even posted the "Hardy Special", one of the flies from the '81 Mataura Collection pictured above. Some guys took offence that the flies being presented weren't "from MY vice" so (more than a little miffed) I just quit bothering.
You can probably find these flies back over there with searches for; Al Troth, Polly R., Dave Whitlock, Buz Buszek, Dick Winter, J. Fair ....

Good thread idea! I wasn’t thinking and posted some of mine over In the what’s in your vice thread (in hindsight not the right place for it).

These are some Chauncey Lively flies from a ways back. Cut wing duns (middle back) some porcupine quill duns (top left) crow beetle and hair ant and some extended body spinners and duns.

I have some old bass flies, gotta dig those out soon

Here's an old fly I used last summer...I walked into a stream I fish occasionally and the salmon flies were on. Of course I wasn't prepared and dug through the flies I had and found a fly I tied in 1980 for a float from Warm Springs to Maupin...I feel old when I realize I used a 40 year old fly! It fooled this little guy.
