PNW Fly Fishing Semi-Official Swap, Shop, Fish & Eat - May 17, 2025

I just discovered that there is a group camp site with an even better kitchen shelter facility in the same park. Those of you who are camping: Would you be interested in having our own campground for this and pitching in for this? I think it's a way more awesome option. I'm already in touch with Tacoma Power to move us over to this.

Yes, I'm interested in that. Is it waterfront? I already booked campsite 48 on the water and I'm not sure what the refund policy is. I'd pitch in something even if I keep my campsite. I'm only planning to stay one night (the 17th).

Not entirely sure what water access is like from it, but hoping to get that answered. Doesn't appear to be fly rod friendly if it is accessable, though.

It'd be that whole area we'd be renting - a kitchen shelter, picnic shelter, our own bathrooms, 10 campsites, AND A PLAYGROUND

I think I may do it either way. It'd be cheaper for whoever wants to camp, too. I think we'd keep the other shelter as well as a casting area next to the water, but keep all our gear swap and feasting at the group site. I just need to work with the park manager as it won't let me reserve both for some reason on the website (says I already have a reservation).
If the consensus is to go with the group site, someone else could make that reservation. I'd be willing to do it.

I think we should get the group site. It would be nice to have a more private space without lots of random, potentially light fingered folks walking through the swap meet. Also, we can walk around with an undisguised beer, because it is not the day use area, right?

Group site has officially been locked down. We are keeping the original picnic shelter on the beach as well so we have a for sure place open for test casting on the water. Basically, we're taking the whole place over :D

If you want to get in on the group site, click the link below. We will be in touch with details for everyone who gets one reserved. All group site reservations will be for The night of the 16th and 17th. No single nights as I don't want to deal with the comings and goings and schedulings of everyone. It's cheap enough compared to the main campground that it makes sense either way.
RESERVE A SITE

I was going to make a dish with Surströmming. That ok? 😆 🤣 😂

Not familiar with that one, but I'm afraid to ask. The only scandahoovian dishes Dad subjected us to were Lutefisk and Klub - potato dumplings that seemed denser than the potatoes they were made from, and somehow turned gray in the process.

My favorite is fiskaker with grilled onions, and of course the not Swedish but Norwegian meatballs. Never a fan of the Komlo, the potato dumpling dish usually filled with lamb. Ufdah!!!

You don't wanna be unless you open can on the great outdoors. It's pretty tasty, but the smell is horrible.

If anyone has already reserved a camp site at the general campground, I have the contact for the park manager. He said to reach out to him if you want to cancel and do the group site instead.

cool, thanks for setting this up, Evan. I cancelled my single site and signed up on the group site. I do hope that there is some access to the lake through those trees though....
