Pay to play lakes??

Do you know about the oregon fishing club? I'm not a member but know some that are. As I understand they give access to a bunch of lakes year round. There's a big sign up fee and quarterly dues but would be a good option if that's what you're into. Look them up. Their website has lots of info. I bet there are some members here that can tell you more.
not a fan, as wherever they lease river access they shut it down, an example two hundred yards of absolute prime bank access on a fave coastal river where the members park on the shoulder of a public local road. No gate, just stairs down, sign that states trespassers will be arrested and prosecuted. Many are the conflict stories between locals and club members over that section of water. Had club members once yell at us to move when they showed up to find my buddy and I anchored and fishing mid river in my DB, claiming it was 'their' river section. That section put many a King in my DB.gaz2.JPG

aren't there some trophy lakes in the Klamath Falls area?
isn't that where Rickert's fishes?
Back to the Wall is a fun place.

In eastern Washington (north of Spokane), there is a place called 3 Lakes Fly Fishing. I have never fished it, but the hosts of a show called Fishing with Ladin aired a few shows from this location.

Stayed at Horseshoe with a small group (5) a couple of times 20+ years ago. Fishing was good for rainbows to 6lbs and native brookies to 20”. It had a feeder on it at the time. Lodge is nice with a hot tub to soak sore arms. Used to be really inexpensive to stay there for a week...

Is that for a single day?
Unfortunately yes, and does not include lodging, food or guiding, though Darc will suggest flies and maybe point to a place on the lake.
The lakes are really prolific food source. Chironomids, callibaetis, scud, leeches, and boatman are the staples. Sure there are damsels and dragons too. Fish are put in as 10-13" and grow fast. Upper lake expect 18-20" as the norm with a few up to 24" and a few smaller. A good fisher can expect 20 to 50 fish day, if your arms can take it. Lower lake less pressure, only 9' deep, expect fewer fish but up to 30". Go early in season if you want to be sure to get on lower lake, Darc cuts it off when it gets too warm.
What I like is that the fish do key into available food so figure it out and game on. Indicators in 5 to 18', vertical presentation 20 to 30', cast and strip all over, and trollers can also do very well.

Thanks for the heads up on the pricing. Thinking of going this year

I'll be there May 20th. Conflicts only allowed for a later date. Maybe some dry fly action? One year clouds came through very late in day and callibaetis just exploded. As then did the fish. Looked like it was raining....

I guess you don't mean this sort of pay to play?

Because you are paying. Some get more on their investment than others. 😁
