Older necks n saddles

Anybody encountered older necks/saddles that have became oily(blead out) ? What did you use to precondition them? I have a bunch that I got a buddy with a bunch that have this issue..
(Older Metz & Hoffman) looking for ideas/info

I have some that the skins exude oil. I have not noticed any effect on the feathers, they seem fine. What kind of problem are you having?

Most of them have leached into the feathers,making them matted.. Going to try a taxidermist process on one to see how rhat work's..

Try soaking and washing one in Dawn dish detergent, it should take care of your problem, it has worked with capes that have gotten greasy that I have had. If it works, well, I see rub a dub in your future.

Just wash the neck or saddle in warm water and Dawn soap. Lay it out feather side down on paper towel and sprinkle some Borax on the skin to dry.

Dry well and borax em as well.

Ps: I froze mine first, before the wash n dry, just for good measures.
