Anyone care to share their thoughts/Techniques for Lahcutts in the above lake? I have a week of vacation in April, thinking of camping there as well. PM’s would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Scott

TJ would be a better source but I'm not sure if non-tribal member camping is allowed at the lake.
It's been 4 or 5 years but the last time a group of us stayed at Reynold's Resort on Buffalo Lake it was a dump. @Scott Salzer could fill you in on the bathroom if you want to call it that. Coyote Creek on Rufus Woods is newer but I haven't checked it out yet.

i'd be interested in a coyote creek report

I still have nightmares. I remember that dad with two young girls. No way they would use that.
Hope all is well with you.

Remember when they brought the old corvette out at dusk and bombed around with a flat tire?

That crapper was so bad that I walked about 1/4 mile down the lake to do some business in the brush. A tick in the ass was a safer bet than an ass in that crapper.

The new campground is pretty nice being right on the river. They forgot one thing however-trees. All that water and not a single tree the last time I was there.

Maybe it will suffer a happy accident of too many tribal fireworks!

There is only one small (4-5 sites?) place that non-members can camp on (or anywhere near) that lake. It is a pretty simple affairs: a few picnic tables, fire pits and an outhouse (maybe). It is up against a big rock wall/mountain, so it won’t get late afternoon or evening sun (translation: expect chilly evenings). Worst of all, in April, the bay where the campsites are is closed to all fishing in April and May. So, since you'll have to make a long drive around to the two open areas, you may want to just camp at the Stampede Grounds where you’ll have heated restrooms with showers and easy access to dining and stores in town.

I thought that launch had been closed permanently. I hope I'm wrong. Before the spawn and post spawn, that's been the easiest place to launch.

The launch is closed and one cannot even launch hand-carried watercraft like float tubes. However, one can still wade fish there through the end of March and after it re-opens in June.
Thanks for the explanation!

They'll be in full spawn mode in April. Like Freestone said, the only campground sucks, and is located in an area that is closed to fishing (and $35 per night). If you wade out knee deep, watch for fish cruising behind you. Bring some mayfly imitations. You might get lucky and have a calibaetis hatch. Bring some damsel nymphs and mayfly nymphs. I usually just use PT's.
