Anyone have a source or a whole bunch? I'm going to hunt for it at the Bellevue FF show tomorrow.

I have plenty of Yak and Temple Dog.. some fox, wolf, etc. The Yak should work as a substitute.. butt who wants a substitute! LOL!

Funny enough, I ordered some last month but won’t have it until early March. Tying up some greaseliners. I’d be happy to send you some then if you’re not in rush.

I'm not in a rush, just looking around for some. I'll be at the FF show in Bellevue today so may be able to find some. Do you recall who packages it? TIA

I'm curious what the attributes of musk ox are that would make it superior to anything mentioned?

I tried a google search and on a first quick glance, not much came up on it for fly tying other than this thread.

It's just what was used. I'm sure Yak hair will do, but do like to track down the suggested materials used.

I was just gonna say it's Musky smelling and smells like Old Spice! I'm sure the steelhead just love that!

As an aside, I have been asked many times... is there a polar bear substitute? Sure, I would substitute it with polar bear! Seriously!

Musk ox hair is a naturally water-repellent fiber. Don’t know if that’s the reason Harry used it but a good thing for a surface fly
A quick search found this

Not from a fly tying specific brand but it is Qiviut.

There's a video of Harry tying it online and what @speyflyfisher is what he said, helps it float more and the long fibers help it not fall apart.
