I just want to thank Lue Taylor again for the 10’ 6wt I bought from him a couple of years ago. Initially, I had problems throwing line, due to the ones I had for my 9 footer were of standard weight, though my Rio Grande floater did cast well. That one has a heavier, more front-loaded head, so the rod loves that line. More recently, I changed over to the SA Titan series of lines for a new Lamson reel I bought. This morning I decided to see how the LT liked them.

For sure! This morning, I joined a friend at Carkeek, to see if the SRCs were willing. With the slightly heavier line (maybe a 1/2 weight more?) the rod loaded nicely and cast easily for distance. Moreover, with that extra foot of length, I was less likely to lose flies on a dropped backcast. Only lost one. Not bad for me.

Though I ended up getting skunked, the fun I had with the rod kept me from feeling too bad about the outing. Fish were there, so I blame the flies I tied up. Oh well. But, thanks again, Lue. Nice rod you built.
