Learning the double haul video

IMO most people make the double haul more complicated than it really is, by trying to put a bunch of pieces together that don't seem to make sense.. Just do your normal false cast, but give the line a little tug going forward and back, to get the feel, while allowing the rod to take the load. Once you get the feel, just lengthen out the tugs (to pulls) and you're double hauling.

There's more to it than that. The key is to let your hand move up as well, so you can do the haul. Watch as her hand with the line moves up naturally and how gently she pulls in her haul.. but it generates line speed.. she's also carrying a tremendous amount of line and the cast is super accurate with a bigger fly, not necessarily heavy.

My point with this and as a casting instructor is how easy her cast is.. timing is on and the cast looks effortless, despite the distance.

I struggled with the double haul initially, but do it without thinking about it now after years of fishing and practice casting!
