Wanted Lamson Guru (original series) size 2

What does TTT mean? I have one that’s seldom used but I also would need a replacement (click and pawl preferably) American or English made.

TTT or ttt: to the top

Click/pawl: Orvis Battenkill

I have a few click and pawls to sell. I’d also love to see Pat get the spool he so badly desires. I will shoot you a pm and see if anything I have may work for you.

Spool/reel body too. Thanks.

I see an original Guru, size 2 was just relisted on eBay. Buy it now for only $259.69*. I suppose it is time to give up on this futile* search and just go look at new reels in a few shops.

* I paid $142.00 for this reel, brand new. I didn't know fly reels appreciated in value. I should keep that in mind when I list my Able Super 12.

I know how you feel, Pat. I've been looking for a LRH spool, and the few I've found sell for more than I paid for the reel! Glad I have a handful of Medalists.

I don't have a lot of love for the Medalists; history there for another time. Saying that, I do have one that's been abused and is somewhat corroded. I'm tempted to try and strip the finish off and try to restore it "unpainted", I might change my mind.

If you just bought one item for a Medalist, make it a metal drag plate...One Pfoot sells them, easy to install. The plastic drag plate sucks. Steve K. has stripped a couple 1494 reels and they look great!

I remember seeing some pictures from that @Bambooflyguy dude, pretty cool what he and a few others have done.

Interesting that you mention "drag plate" as it was the drag on my 1495-1/2 that caused me grief. I hooked a nice steelhead swinging a Trick or Treat through "ledges" on the Wenatchee. As the fish ran (and ran), the reel's drag would hold then release then hold then release, repeatedly. I lost a nice steelhead due, in my opinion, to a faulty reel or reel's drag. Maybe it was the plastic drag plate? At any rate, I retired that reel that day; it sits in a tote, and I use it now when unspooling a line from another reel to hold the line temporarily.

@Buzzy
I’ve got 3 of the reels you’re looking for and a couple spools.

If it wasn’t so much effort to figure out what reel I should switch to, I’d do it so you could have all these!

I purchased a Ross Canyon 2 + spool, thinking I’d slowly migrate to these reels, but they are F’n HTF! (Hard to Find)!!

So… LMK if you see any Canyons for sale and we’ll work a deal for you! 😀

Thanks for reaching out again, Jeff. I know exactly what you mean about HTF! I have a Ross Evolution, size 3 (original series). If I could find this reel and several spools, I might jump all over it; but it too is out of production (I don't like the looks of the new models). Super smooth, great drag, one color (black) and it looks like a fly reel.
