A new bamboo friend caught his first bamboo fish tonight! I redid a 9’ 3 piece heavy 6 wt into a fishable Hotrod. I added more lite wire snakes, larger agate stripper, maroon wraps with black trim. All but one ferrule had to be reglued, the cork and reelseat were cleaned up and reused. This rod came with a unique telescopic aluminum rod tube. It was around 4’ with an inner aluminum tube the same length. There’s a collar with a set screw to hold the inner tube at the desired length. Pretty cool! Mike has a great casting stroke and was making 40’+ casts out of his drift boat with ease. The only thing missing tonight was more trout to sight cast to……a shorter one piece Hotrod could be next stick!
