Fishing the first day was challenging…between 20-30 mph winds and intermittent clouds, still managed a few bones in the morning and a few in the afternoon…of course the biggest bone I hooked was near a dock…i dont have to tell you how that ended…

I saw way more cudas than bones, so im rigging up one of the rods today with a wire trace and a big clouser…

Best way to rinse off your gear while taking a shower is to have a local beer simultaneously…

Fish escovitch, which is a Jamaican dish…mahi mahi over peas & rice, plantains & escovitch…which is pickled vegetables with allspice & scotch bonnet…

We rented a golf cart and went to Dunmore restaurant in the Dunmore Hotel, which surprisingly is in Dunmore Town.

There was local stone crab, which was more reasonably priced than in Miami…my wife attacked her Bahamian lobster while I enjoyed the steak frites….

To be continued…

Good stuff!
I fished Abaco island years ago, need to get back to fish for bones again for sure.
My avatar is one of those bones ever since.

trying to convince my wife for Turks and Caicos trip in 2027.

Are there good DIY options there? Or mostly guide service?
If you dont have a boat, then no…i did see some anglers walking the areas near the boat landing…but much of the shoreline nearby was private property…we didn’t fish much on Harbour Island…mostly what is called tje “backcountry “ of Eleuthera, which would require a boat…

To be honest, this was not a dedicated fishing trip…my wife booked it because it has amenities and a nice beach for her…but there is fish, so I planned to fish a few days while here

These pics are from yesterday…got into a couple nice bones…of course when I took out my phone for a pic, it was dead…apparently i was taking a long video of the inside of my pocket.

This morning was epic…hooked 12 bones, 9 to the boat…lost another half dozen, had small jacks and other reef fish grab the fly before a grey ghost could get to it…also the most windy day of our stay, but managed to get into the lee in a couple spots…spent the afternoon chasing cudas, managed a couple small ones…had shots at 2 large fish (one had a large red streamer attached to his face)…both turned away as I stripped it to the boat.

Of course I left my phone in the room, but asked my guide to text me some pics…

Heading home tomorrow…
