Cedar waxwings are not uncommon, but they don't often stand still for very long. You get set to take a picture and they are off. But occasionally, a bird or two will alight in a perfect spot with good lighting (not silhouetted against a bright sky) and you can really capture their beauty. Here are a few of the best shots from a recent trip to Nisqually Wildlife Refuge.

we get a lot of cedar waxwings here in the Tri-Cities in the winter, and they raid my big linden trees to feed on the seeds.
