Fishing in the fog

Nine days ago my wife and I were walking along the Pacific Ocean in Redondo Beach, it was almost 80°F. This morning I went out start my truck and drive to a local lake and found it coated with ice, it was 28°F and very foggy. Let the truck run to melt the ice and headed out. Rod was already parked and gone ----

When there's snow on the ground, don't take the left fork or you'll be backtracking.

The "all black" put the biggest fish of the day into my net, The indicator suspending @Billy's style Gloater disappeared twice. I'm going to give the Gloater another try Wednesday somewhere down in the Seeps.

awesome job getting out.
I'm starting to tie
Thanks, Dave - I got out again today; humped my float tube lashed to my backpack across the shrub steppe south of Potholes. Damn, I'm out of shape. It was 35°F at my house when I left just before dawn, it was 22°F on the Dodson where you cross Winchester Wasteway. The road across Potholes dam was icy - very slick. 30 mph rather than 50. About the time I parked at the trail head my buddy Rod sent me picture of a very nice trout. Stoke was on. So was the ice along the edge of the lake. A week ago a friend had fished this same lake and said the water was 42°F, today it was 37.8°F. 45 minutes into kicking around and my feet were cold, I was cold. Another 45 minutes and my feet were numb. I bagged it. Meanwhile Rod's kicking around the lake without bare handed. I was Skunked. Nothing. Pretty day. Lots of swans fly overhead. Snow geese by the thousands. Trout? What are they. I'm going to tie a few flies. Monday is a new day.
