I don't think that I have ever used Fluorocarbon to sink any line or leader. I'm of the old school of fly fishing. A "bb" shot is what gets my line down under the water, or a weighted nymph. I thought you all knew, I fish on the cheap way.

I don't think a whole lot of people use it for it's sinking characteristics, maybe some hardcore dry line guys. I do consider it when I'm fishing a dry fly and use mono in that scenario. The STS really is quite abrasion resistant and basically invisible in gin clear water, not that I think steelhead are super leader-shy, but, you know, confidence.

When it came to steelhead fishing, I was a fan of Maxima (which we called cable). Nowadays I primarily fish stillwaters and am sold on Flouro .... and right now I'm into Rio but have used Climax and Umpqua in the past and they worked fine. I do use Seaguar in heavy weight sizes for LMB fishing.

Ultragreen for steelhead 8-12 lb depending on conditions.
Trout well it just doesn't matter I usually use powerflex fluroflex if smaller than 5x. Like I said trout fishing just doesn’t matter enough to try to figure out anything better.
