Electric Bikes

I gave some thought about getting an electric bike for my wife for commuting to work. In our case it would be beneficial since a special license wasn't required and would be easy cheap transportation for her..

From your link, I'm assuming that you're planning to use it for off road back country travel. I like the idea of the trailer for hauling in your gear or packing out your game be it elk, deer or whatever. It claims to have a 60 mile range battery which would be about all you'd need for a day out. but I'm thinking carrying a spare fully charged battery pack as a backup safety precaution or else a means of charging. The fact that e-Bikes are so quiet would be a great asset also for approaching game or entering areas you plan to hunt. I don't think I'd go any slimmer then a 3" tire either as it will give you a better footprint for traction and avoid sinking into the ground..

From the description they give of this hunting e-bike that you linked, sounds like a great e-bike. With off-road e-Bikes ranging in price from $1500 to around $7000, they're cheaper then ATV's which start at about $3000 and could go up to $20000 or more plus ATV's are noisy..

But ATV's are the most fun you can have on 4 wheels. I know as I have one. It cost me a little over 5 grand.

just get an ebike from one of the many respected bike brands and use it for hunting. ive been thinking about an e-fat bike for snow riding.

buying a chinese ebike wrapped in camo with good marketing and shitty components for thousands of dollars extra?? no thanks.

I don’t have an e-bike (yet) but I’m paying close attention to the development of e-mountain bikes as I am a fairly avid (and aging) mountain bike rider. The climbs are less fun each year and once the trail systems where I ride open up to allow e-bikes (class I) I will get one. I can’t speak to the hunting oriented e-bikes specifically but with regard to tire size I have some thoughts based on my acoustic bike experience.

I’ve had hardtail mountain bikes with 3” tires and I have a fat bike (set up for riding trails) that has 4” (rear) and 4.5” (front) tires. For hunting I would imagine you’ll be getting onto trails that are ungroomed, rough, rooty and rocky. The bigger the tires, the more rollover capability the bike will have. The larger tires will absorb shock and reduce fatigue on your hands and wrists as well, and you can air them down low or pump them up to suit the terrain you encounter. My fat bike really eats up rough trails, has great flotation in soft soils and, as an added bonus, is a lot of fun when the snow falls. I’d recommend fat tires, and get the lightest bike with the largest capacity battery you can get.

well pretty much every pro freeride and downhill mountain bikers uses them to train..... i think thats a shitpost if i ever saw one.
never saw john Wayne or Chuck Norris on one, your welcome to post your own opinions on this forum

You are correct. As you also know there’s a big difference in the world of e-bikes. Class I pedal assist bikes are not the same animals as Class II and Class III. Many people ignorantly lump them all into the same category.

Putting together Land Cruiser and off road trailer for some over landing adventures, leaning towards a 4"er, I've had many bikes ( three at the moment ) had a 4", 29" wheels non ebike, thing would roll over just about anything, was down in Arizona recently and rode a friends $8000 Trek, it blew me away, how much I loved it, and at 75 a broken neck doesn't seem as bad as some of the other alternatives lurking out there in the geriatric minefield of potentialities.
Thanks for the reply.

Most bikes are made in Taiwan ( ROC ) Republic of China, I don't buy anything shitty, components or otherwise, just starting my search and agree with you 100% regarding quality.
Thanks for the reply.

i understand that. but the quality difference in overseas manufactoring for GIANT or SPECIALIZED is a lot better then some alibaba frame with a wrap or a paint job.

something in this realm looks good to me (though i would not ever use it for hunting, just fishing and camping)
