Dry line crappie help

So I kind got the hang of things with the type 6, so today I took a dry line. I thought I would start with a popper dropper setup, after doing some interweb fishing. I tried sz 2 and 10 poppers. Both a black and yellow sz 2 poppers got a few hits, but no takes, from small bass. The small ones were ignored. I tied the blk bugger onto the hook with 6# UG about 24" back. Only got one 6" bass on the bugger. Does anybody else have luck with a rig like this? Suggestions or recommendations?

I gave it a good go, looked like it should work, but really wanted to catch some fish, so I cut off the popper and put on an indicator with a leech and a beadhead bugger on point.

Seemed like next years parents so back they went, maybe I'll eat some next time.
I don't know, maybe I'm just comfortable and happy manipulating a bobber so it works for me.
