Bikepacking

First thought: Wow. Maybe this is actually doable. 🧐

Second thought: Having a kid behind the rear tire, on a dirt road, doesn't seem like the smartest idea. πŸ˜†

I like this guy. The Vancouver Island trips are nice to watch and he seems to do stuff that is a little more attainable now that I'm older and graying. I have no illusions of long trips of hundreds of miles, but there are quite a few old closed logging roads around where our cabin is that would be fun to explore for a couple nights by bike.

I don't do this, but my younger daughter and her husband bike pack a lot of places with 2 kids, including a month from Switzerland into France the year before covid. They use a Bob trailer, I think it's called, and stick the two kids in that. The oldest is now 6 and rides his own bike. They're pretty hard core. Before they had children they biked for 10 months from Turkey, through the northern 'Stans, Mongolia, Tibet, China, India, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.

A few easy rides past the gates.
