Just spent four days swinging soft hackles for cutts in Jackson Hole. My rod of choice for the snake was a 9' winston bamboo 4.5 ounce 6 weight. It made long casts easy when there was a breeze and also roll casted well when I had a high bank behind. The snake has a reputation as a boat only river but we found plenty of walk-in water. We spent a morning on this lovely riffle...

And found lots of fish along this riprap...

The snake river cutts had big shoulders and were either buttery or bronze...

We saw six bears and had to unholster bear spray after encountering a sow grizzly and cub at about 40 feet while hiking. The bears were everywhere eating hawthorn berries. This grizzly climbed a tree above the road to get at berries. I guess you don't climb a tree to escape a grand teton grizzly.

My best flies were the #12 partridge and olive and #12 partridge and orange. My friends found cutts on a few days fishing a Hecuba mayfly emerger dry.
