Bamboo fling 2025

Last year we held it June 9th. I'd like to see it a bit earlier if possible myself.

I didn't expect discussion on the Bamboo Fling quite this soon. How about sometime in May after opening day for our lakes on the west side. The Cascade Park location is fine with me. I was unable to make it last year and I have a couple of new rods to show off. One new and a Hardy rod over a hundred years old. I just had a thought; this should be posted in the upcoming events forum.

Casting my single "vote" I'd ask for May since I'll be unavailable most of June. In May, the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend is almost always available...longer trips to fish Eastside lakes tend to happen over the weekends before, or after, Mother's Day.

When I first read your post, I thought you were suggesting Mother's Day. My first thought was "Are you nuts". The Saturday before Mother's Day is possible but cutting it a little close. Mother's Day is May 11th. I would like to see if we could hold the fling on one of the other Saturdays.

May is good for me! Missed last year's but will come by this time.

I can try and make May 3rd. Always enjoyed seeing all the beautiful builds and listening to you guys discuss boo. I am very curious about how a 10 foot bamboo 6 wt single hander will feel weight wise. I built an 8'6" 6wt to go after Montana browns. The bend in the rod .... so much fun! My arm couldn't cast it all day though. Had to switch out with a graphite rod every now and then.
@Denwor54, your builds are beautiful and seem very well thought out.

Thanks Kado, I have been playing around with scalloping and so far my two handers are not bad on weight. I plan on using a hardwood lower handle on the 10 ft 6 wght which will be small and with the right reel should balance the swing weight. I have a 9ft 4inch 6 weight that I use for sea run cutts and it’s not a problem for me to fish all day. It may be that I have Popeye forearms 😀

Sorry for using the wrong term Tim, fling what you want and use whatever rod you want to fling with just don’t put any hooks on your flinger. As I’m to old to end up with an ear ring or nose ring that’s more of a younger generation thing. Your flingers are way better than mine so hopefully you can make it. If you have any questions let me know just don’t bring any plastic flingers😀

Thanks for the clarification.
